Pontiac City Council - District 4

Public Participation Process

The Federal Programs Division works with the Pontiac Coordinating Council to include the public in the process of developing the allocations for the Federal Programs. The Federal Program Division provides one staff person to work with the Coordinating Council which consists of 28 citizen members, four representatives from each of the seven Citizen District Councils. The Coordinating Council meets each month where staff provides an update and information on the CDBG program to the members. Staff provides two CDBG training sessions to the members in September and October of each year prior to the submission of the CDBG applications. Each December, all applicants are required to make a presentation on their proposed projects to the members of the Coordinating Council. The Coordinating Council then makes their recommendations for funding which are presented to both the Executive Office and the City Council for their consideration as they make their deliberations and recommendations for the next year’s funding.
